History
Founded in 1962 by Rochelle and Glen Irby, Irby Dance Studio is the longest continuously operating dance studio in Arkansas. IDS was built on a foundation of strong ballet technique and has grown to incorporate all styles of dance. We have spent more than six decades providing quality dance education while fostering a love of the arts in generations of students.

Rochelle and Glen Irby also founded Arkansas's first resident ballet company, the River Valley Ballet Theatre, which presented some of the state's earliest full-length ballet productions, including The Nutcracker and La Fille Mal Gardée. Their vision helped establish a thriving dance community and set a standard of excellence that continues today in central Arkansas.

The first Irby location was opened in Clinton, Arkansas. Today, Irby Dance Studio serves dancers through four locations in Conway, Little Rock, Morrilton, and Searcy. Over the years, the studio's legacy has grown through the leadership of dedicated owners and directors who have continued the Irby tradition while expanding opportunities for dancers throughout Arkansas.

Wendy Irby Jones strengthened her parents legacy. Her leadership established Irby's award-winning Competition Team and helped grow the Little Rock location into one of the premier dance studios in Central Arkansas.

The studios have also benefited from the leadership of Tara Colunga and Susan Freedle. Tara Colunga owned and operated the Conway (2011-2018) and Searcy (2005-2020) locations. Susan Freedle owned and operated the Morrilton (2014-2026) and Conway (2018-2026) locations. Their dedication and leadership helped continue the Irby commitment to excellence in dance education while expanding opportunities for dancers in their communities.

In 2020, Ryan Williams became the owner of Irby Dance Studio Searcy. Ryan led the studio through a period of significant growth, including the development of a new four-room facility. In 2025, he assumed ownership of the Little Rock location, overseeing major renovations that included the installation of brand-new sprung dance floors. Most recently, Ryan became the owner of the Conway and Morrilton locations, uniting all four studios under one vision while honoring the traditions that have made Irby Dance Studio a trusted name in dance education for more than 60 years.
